Fashion Faux Pas To Avoid

Most of us have no trouble keeping up with the latest and greatest trends in our youth. But as the years pass we may fall a little behind, and start making little errors in judgment where our clothes are concerned. Just think of that old lady with the floral prints you see hobbling down the driveway to yell after the paper boy.

But you don’t have to end up like her. Age does not mean a fading of beauty, however the saying goes, and it doesn’t mean an automatic fashion failure, either. There are just a few things to keep in mind. For one, stay away from over complicated prints. Solid colors look more sophisticated then wild swirls, and will also give you a sleek, professional look.

Make sure your clothes fit. So many women seem to increase their wardrobe size with their age. This is a big no-no, and almost as bad as going too tight. This also means staying away from anything obviously meant for the ‘Miss’ aisle at your local department store.

Be realistic. Know what your body looks like, and shop accordingly. This means being careful of your colors, cuts, and types of clothes. You can be fashionable, functional, and fabulous with a little thought.

‘Drop Dead Diva’ Airing On Lifetime

After what some say was a ridiculous amount of advertising, ‘Drop Dead Diva’ finally aired on Lifetime this week, among mixed reviews. While most say it is a fun, quirky little comedy, others have stated that the mass marketing campaign, added to the slightly tired plot line, has lead to a show that is sure to be canceled by the second season.

The story follows Deb, a young model who is obsessed by her looks, and little else. After a car crash she finds herself at Heaven’s gates, where she is told her has lived a shallow, and pathetic, existence. She begs to be sent back to her life, but a mix-up sends her to the wrong body.

Instead of her own size-zero blond-haired form, she is stuck in that of size 16 attorney, Jane Bingum. Deb must learn to live as Jane, and to accept herself for who she is, while learning a little about being a good and whole person along the way. She does this with the help of her new form, her new job, and Jane’s assistant and friend, Teri.

Early reviews have seemed mostly positive, but only time will tell how far this serious will go. And whether or not the world will enjoy it as it continues.

How To Naturally Battle Morning Sickness

A new addition to the family is always a joy, and you are likely excited about the coming months, and the day when you will first hold your little one in your arms. But in the meantime there are many small annoyances (and not so small annoyances) that you have to suffer through first. One of the most commonly complained about is morning sickness.

There are plenty of natural ways to deal with this problem, which can last a number of months, and for some women the entire pregnancy. But there are a few which have been proven the most effective, as well as the simplest to use.

Keeping certain foods or drinks by your bed can be beneficial. Eating before you get up will help settle the stomach, and will reduce the risk of vomiting through the morning and early afternoon. Foods to keep on hand should be non-perishables, such as crackers, and something fizzy to sip on, such as a can of Sprite or Ginger Ale.

Foods containing ginger are all great at settling the stomach, as cookies or teas with it as a main ingredient are popular options for battling nausea. You should also stay away from coffee or other caffeine, or foods that cause heartburn or indigestion.

Give Your Every Day Look A Boost!

One of the basics of beauty is to have a consistent look that you can ue on a day to day basis. But this can become boring after a time, and you may find yourself craving a little change in your life. Luckily, you don’t have to completely change your look to get a different effect. Instead, add little changes to boost your every day style, and get yourself out of that fashion rut.

Start out by making subtle changes, such as in the shade of your makeup. Maybe go with something a little lighter or darker in your eyes, a slightly pinker tone for your lips. A few highlights or a trim may also do you some good, and is one of the fastest ways to rejuvenate your appearance.

There are also larger things that you can do, that don’t require a specific change. For instance, losing those five pounds that have been stubbornly clinging to your hips since last winter can overcome that frumpy look, and a tan is both slimming, and a huge confidence building.

You can also try whitening your teeth, or spending some time focusing on your skin. Both are very important parts of your appearance that can cause an overall dull look when discolored or showing problems.

The Right Work Out For The Female Form

Though it is just as important for both men and women to get enough exercise, there is a difference in how our bodies show it. Men ultimately have different goals, and most women don’t want to appear overly-muscled, or bulky. That’s why it’s best to go with the right exercise to promote fitness, health, and appearance for women specifically.

Your first step is to get plenty of cardio exercise. The minimum recommendation is 30 minutes at least three times a week of high impact cardio. This means getting your heart rate up to the perfect range. Here is the formula for finding your target: 70% x (225 – Age). This will burn calories, which reduces fat, and strengthens the heart.

Next, you have toning. Using free weights of machines are fine, as they will tone the body well. But don’t do more than 2 reps. of 15 per machine/action. For tone and flexibility, try something like yoga, or for toning, flexibility, and cardio is one, try for something like power pilates.

Other great workouts for women are running/jogging, dance, step or other aerobics, and swimming. Participating in any of these will give you greater health, help you fit into those skinny jeans, and are also fun.
