Daughter Of Ozzy Osbourne Moves Into Fashion

While Ozzy Osbourne’s family may be best known for their insane antics on the popular reality TV show, ‘The Osbournes,’ the children appear to have calmed down, grown up and cleaned up their acts considerably. Kelly Osbourne, the middle child of metal singer Ozzy Osbourne and music manager Sharon Osbourne has always had a keen sense of fashion, even if slightly macabre. Now 26, Kelly Osbourne already launched a line in 2004 named ‘Stiletto Killers,’ but after a lukewarm response she quietly through in the cards. A little older and a lot wiser, Kelly hopes that a collaboration with an experienced design team will lead her to success this time. While everyone wants to hear about the details, she’s keeping a tight lid on her collection until the deal is sealed – including who she is working with and who the line will be geared towards.
Without much to go on, we can only look  at Kelly Obsourne’s transformation from angst-ridden teen to a mature and sophisticated young woman who is looked to get out from under her parents’ massive shadow. After ‘The Osbournes’ went off the air, fans turned to critics, asking exactly what the Osbourne kids did to earn a living. While it is nice to have a never-ending wardrobe because you have one of the founding members of Black Sabbath as your father, it doesn’t exactly prove that you are a fashionista. In the last few years, Kelly has shied away from the spotlight, and hopefully the result of it will be a spectacular new fashion collection.

Charity To Receive Proceeds From Jakarta Fashion Week

On November 6, 2010, Jakarta Fashion Week opened, but not without delivering a message even bigger than the fashion industry itself. Last month, Indonesia was hit by a series of natural disasters that left a tiny island chain in shambles. A tsunami, earthquake and volcano eruption almost simultaneously hit the Mentawai Islands, killing thousands. Many designers appearing in Jakarta Fashion week were personally effected by the destruction, prompting Master of Ceremonies Ira Duati to say a prayer for the survivors at the start of the event. Taking it a step further, attendees were urged to make a donation to Femina Group Cares, a charity working diligently to provide aid to disaster victims. Located near the main ticket booth, Femina Group Cares set up a donation center and offered incentives to those who gave. Working in conjunction with famous Southeast Asian designers, the charity held raffles, auctions and fundraisers in an effort to raise funds for the suffering region. Those that donated had the opportunity to win big – clothing fresh off of the runway made by featured designers.

The event continued without a hitch, with over 150 individual designers showing their work at the Pacific Place Mall. Clothing with a mixture of western influence and traditional Indonesian styles were a big hit on the catwalk. More than 20,000 are estimated to have to attended, a fact that surely made donation efforts much easier. As Jakarta Fashion Week comes to a close on November, 12, 2010, Femina Group Cares vowed to use all contributions received to aid in rebuilding efforts. Schools, health centers, and sanitation stations will be made available to survivors in the Mentawai Islands both by Femina Group Cares and the generation donations made by Jakarta Fashion Week attendees.

Famed Ferre Fashion House To Be Sold To Highest Bidder

An Italian fashion house that has been fighting to stay afloat just received a lifesaver. US company Prodos Capital Management, LLC, offered an undisclosed sum of money for control of the Gianfranco Ferre fashion house. This is not the first time the company has been in this position. In 2002, IT Holding purchased Ferre fashion house, but subsequently had to file for bankruptcy protection in 2009. The brand best known for constructing women’s architectural suits was created in 1978 by famed designer Gianfranco Ferre. The company originally was auctioned in July of 2010, but the deal itself took months to be sorted out and finalized. Italian officials just announced that deal would be approved, but failed to provide specifics as to the amount of money paid by Prodos Capital Management, LLC.

The Ferre fashion house later expanded to include a line for men in 1982, prompting the creator to introduce fragrances and dabble in couture. After relinquishing all control of the brand to IT Holding in 2002, Ferre was able to continue work as the creator director. In 2007, Gianfranco Ferre fell victim to a sudden brain haemorrhage, an event that may have led towards the company’s downward tailspin. Designers Lars Nillson, Roberto Rimondi and Tommaso Aquilano took turns as creative director after Ferre’s death, which may be an indication as to why the Ferre fashion house began to experience financial strain. Too many style concepts from the brand in such a short period of time left many experts speculating on the company’s longevity. Prodos Capital Management, LLC has not yet commented on their plans for the future.

Miranda Kerr Loses A Wedding Dress But Gains A Baby

Model Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom began planning their wedding this past summer to take place a short time later. In fact, it was so sudden that Miranda didn’t even have time to pick out a wedding dress. Actually, that’s not what happened at all. Kerr hand picked a lovely wedding gown, then decided on a date. After that, she traveled on an American Airlines flight that July with her dress in tow. And it hasn’t been seen since. In a Facebook message, Kerr recounted her tale and asked fans if something like this ever happened to them. American Airlines was quick to respond, releasing a statement that put the weight squarely on Kerr. Basically, they offered Kerr the opportunity to fill out a form, which they claim was never received. A lost baggage claim would have surely gotten the ball rolling, but common sense should have told American Airlines that more action on their part was necessary.

The good news for Kerr – she and Orlando Bloom are expecting a baby. The couple doesn’t know what the sex is, and they plan to keep it that way. Miranda Kerr has put her modeling career on hold for now, but she did just pose in the buff for a photo spread. The Australian born model is not the first pregnant star to choose to bare more than her belly, but so far, the pictures have been received quite well. The expecting model is still hopeful that the dress will be found, but for now, she focuses on the birth of her first child.

New Lavin Line For H&M Causes Frenzy

After retailer H&M announced yet another collaboration with a world renowned fashion designers, fans began to lace up their sneakers because already knew what was in store. Without fail, every single time that a major designer has placed a discount version of the wears inside of the walls of an H&M store, near riots have ensued. Of course, for those that want the name brand label without the heavy price tag, facing a stampede is just par for the course.

The internationally known designer behind the Lavin line, Alber Elbaz, has come up with a signature collection for H&M that features pieces that go for no more than $200. Although the line is sure to sell out quickly, that didn’t stop fashion hopefuls from lining up more than 10 hours in advance of the stores’ openings. Considering that many of the items that Elbaz designs normally cost around $5,000, it makes sense that so many people would even try their luck at snagging one of these ultra rare pieces. At the 5th Avenue NYC H&M, Elbaz was in attendance for the store’s opening, although he never left the safety of his Lincoln Towncar. Over 300 fanatics showed up, but H&M officials were prepared this time. Using electric wrist bands to keep shoppers in line, most described the event as frenzied, but far less chaotic than previous events. Many shoppers handed over the equivalent of two week’s salary in exchange for armfuls of clothing. Around the globe, shoppers in Asia, Europe and the US patiently waited for their turns to get the most inexpensive pieces that Elbaz will ever produce.
