On one hand, the photos garnered so much attention that one would hope that some would actually pay attention to the singer that being honored. At the same time, those that participated in the shoot should have known that the public would raise an eye brow at the concept. Knowles, who has been painted and dressed in stylized African attire in order to conjure up the spirit of the ‘African Queen,’ took the pictures that are being featured on the cover of the magazine. There is a good chance that many of her fans based in the US will never find out about the photo shoot, but those that live abroad will likely see Knowledges and her substantially darkened face front and center. This may just be another case where art, as subjective as it is, has been confused for something more sinister.

Elizabeth Arden has become the go to woman when it comes to celebrities who want a winning scent. Having released a huge number of her own fragrances for decades, Arden is well respected in the cosmetics industry for her ingenious blends and branding. Although the new fragrance won’t be available in stores for another year, Swift thinks that young adults just coming into their own will be eager to wear her fragrance. In addition to the perfume, Arden and Swift hope to release additional bath products like lotion and shower gel.

A lot of celebrities have been releasing signature scents lately, but not all of them have reached high levels of success. This is probably at least part of the reason that Taylor Swift is waiting so long to release her’s, but she’s also ultra busy working on an upcoming album. Judging the amount of support Swift has, she probably won’t have any problems with her newest venture.

On Tuesday, November 30th in Manhattan, The annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show will feature Katy Perry along with favorite “angels” such as Lily Aldridge, Adrian Lima, Chanel Iman and Candice Swanepoel. While the high fashion models will be clad in signature Victoria’s Secret lingerie, Perry plans on wearing a hand jeweled gown as well as other surprise pieces made by designer Todd Thomas. Thomas is almost single-handedly responsible for jump starting Heidi Klum’s post pregnancy return to the runway. Well known for daring stage outfits, Perry will be showing the world that she is no stranger to high profile fashion events.

On top of modeling, Perry will perform alongside international rap star Akon at the internationally syndicated fashion show. Other guest musical performers have appeared at the national fashion show, but Katy Perry will be the to first be become a featured model. Be prepared to see jeweled push-up bras, glittery camisoles and plenty of skin, as millions of men and women alike tune in en masse to see what styles will be showing up in bedrooms this holiday season.

Of course, with Madonna controversy is part of her art form and most close to her have said that they doubt she is even batting an eye at her critics.

What has amazed many in the media is the stars skill with new media, such as Twitter, and her willingness to embrace fan adoration openly. Recently, the singer noted the fan art of an artist on the digital art web site DeviantArt, a longstanding portal for artist in various mediums. The artist had done a painting depicting Lady Gaga with another pop powerhouse, Beyonce, paying tribute to their role in the music video for the hit song Telephone. The epic video showcases the visual prowess of Lady Gaga, spanning nearly 10 minutes of highly stylized footage to accompany the song.

The story follows Deb, a young model who is obsessed by her looks, and little else. After a car crash she finds herself at Heaven’s gates, where she is told her has lived a shallow, and pathetic, existence. She begs to be sent back to her life, but a mix-up sends her to the wrong body.

Instead of her own size-zero blond-haired form, she is stuck in that of size 16 attorney, Jane Bingum. Deb must learn to live as Jane, and to accept herself for who she is, while learning a little about being a good and whole person along the way. She does this with the help of her new form, her new job, and Jane’s assistant and friend, Teri.

Early reviews have seemed mostly positive, but only time will tell how far this serious will go. And whether or not the world will enjoy it as it continues.
