If you are doing a little shopping for the summer season there are a few things that you won’t want to forget to add to your wardrobe. A new season always means new fashions. And, there’s lots of new styles to choose from this summer. While some styles have held on strong from last summer, new trends are here to spice up your summer outfits.

Florals arrived with spring flowers and are still hot for the summer months as well. Designers have incorporated floral designs into everything from dresses to shoes. Even if you aren’t a big fan of floral patterns you still should have at least one floral dress in your closet. Available in both vivid and pastel colors, florals are the in thing for this season.

When it comes to fit, the trend is looser this season. While it’s always a good idea to have a great pair of skinny jeans on hand, this years styles are geared toward a loose flowing design. Trouser legs are wider like the popular style in the 70’s. And, a lot of dresses, skirts and trousers will have pleats to add even more flow.

One of the most popular colors for summer has always been white and this summer is no different. White adds a clean fresh feel to your wardrobe and is the perfect color for any occasion. And, because lace is another popular trend this year you will find a lot of fashions that are adorned with lace. If you want to add some color, use accessories such as belts, scarves and jewelry.

While white is and always will be a great color for summer, this year vivid colors and tribal prints are giving white some competition. No color is off limits this year. You will see a lot of clothing and jewelry items in bright yellows, oranges, purples and even neon colors. Instead of your basic tribal prints, designers have taken them a step further and jazzed the patterns up with geometric designs. These styles make a bold statement and they are flattering on any type of figure.

Rugged men and sophisticated gentlemen have slowly been coming around when it comes to adding color to their wardrobes. A few years back a handful of audacious rappers started a movement that included pink clothing and accessories. Most guys laughed it off, thinking that wearing pink and purple clothing was a way for these entertainers to get attention, but now fashion designers are dead serious about the neon pink trend for men. Pairing pink blazers, shoes and pants with jet black attire, designers have been sending out the most handsome male models in the world on the runways to stunned audiences.

Most men keep the only the drabbest colored clothing and accessories in their closets, and they have been endlessly complaining about their limited selection. It appears that fashion designers have heard their pleas, but some male consumers will not be quick to pick up the trend. While wearing a pale pink striped dress shirt to work will get you compliments, having the gumption to show up at your office in a pair of electric pink dress pants may get you sent home earlier. Although the fashion world is all about taking risks, corporate America is not yet ready to update their dress code. In your spare time you can pick up a bright pink t-shirt and feel confident in your wears, but for now you might want to avoid becoming the latest victim of office gossip. A little pink will warm up your wardrobe, but remember to dress appropriately for the occasion.

For some reason, a lot of adults are having a hard time coming to grips with the fact that Taylor Swift is growing up. Elizabeth Arden doesn’t seem to be having the same problem. These two famous ladies have combined forces and are planning to release a new fragrance yet to be named. Swift has already proven herself to be businesswoman wise beyond her years, having navigated through the music industry and coming out a teenaged star. Now, Taylor Swift wants to show the world that she can act, look, and smell like an adult, too.

Elizabeth Arden has become the go to woman when it comes to celebrities who want a winning scent. Having released a huge number of her own fragrances for decades, Arden is well respected in the cosmetics industry for her ingenious blends and branding. Although the new fragrance won’t be available in stores for another year, Swift thinks that young adults just coming into their own will be eager to wear her fragrance. In addition to the perfume, Arden and Swift hope to release additional bath products like lotion and shower gel.

A lot of celebrities have been releasing signature scents lately, but not all of them have reached high levels of success. This is probably at least part of the reason that Taylor Swift is waiting so long to release her’s, but she’s also ultra busy working on an upcoming album. Judging the amount of support Swift has, she probably won’t have any problems with her newest venture.

After her latest victory at New York Fashion Week, Victoria Beckham ponders showing in her hometown of London. It took her years to be taken seriously as a pop star turned fashion icon, mother, and wife to soccer star David Beckham. Established designers surmised that while Victoria could certainly dress well, she wouldn’t be able to create good quality pieces. New York Fashion Week 2010 marked Victoria Beckham’s latest triumph, but left her longing. It’s one thing to conquer New York, but Mrs. Beckham knows that London will be quite the undertaking.

In fact, Victoria estimates that it will be another 20 years before she feels strongly enough about her brand to show in London. That may seem like a long time, but in the world of fashion, designers often get nervous when it comes to their native land. To Beckham’s credit, taking the road most traveled has earned her kudos from some fellow designers. Plenty of celebrities have created fashion brands, but few have been as dedicated as she. Beckham has no plans to mass create low quality pieces for department stores, but she is in the midst of planning a flagship store in true couture fashion.

While Victoria Beckham has been carefully crafting her line and image, not everyone is sold. After recently unveiling her fifth collection, some critics complained that Beckham is waiting for other designers to establish trends before ripping them off. It may be an unfair assessment, but she is in good company. Young, fledgling designers are often put through the ringer. It may be a part of a little understood initiation process, or just plain cattiness. Either way, if Beckham can keep going, she’ll earn the respect she desperately desires.

While they have not really been in vogue for quite some time outside of the popular music video scene, it appears that animal prints are coming back into fashion. Fashion experts have said that the consumer level retail scene is now loaded with a variety of prints that might just remind one of the more jungle aspects of the so called urban jungle these days. The classic style is said not to be a trend of tiger patterns, snake skins and other creature inspired looks, but is actually a fashion mainstay that comes back from time to time. According to recent media accounts of fashion designer Kate Dimmock, animal prints are a real classic that designers love to use to create either pieces that emphasize those designs or to mix in with more neutral elements of an outfit. An example of these would be the leopard print pumps that are this seasons hot item, among many different similarly styled footwear on the market right now.

Of course, even with this more natural theme, the colors do get wild and are not just the more subdued shades of browns, greens, or even tiger orange. Instead, lower price point labels are going for more loud and faux fur jackets, among different offerings. The mid level fashion is offering its own items so consumers can choose from everything animal print from Anny Taylor to JC Penney when they are ready to pick something up that bears similarities with the kingdom of undomesticated beasts.

The fashion retail web site known as Threadless has counted a huge part of its success from a new technique known as crowd sourcing. The company was founded by Jake Nickell who states that when he first began the site he had no real intention of turning it into a cash cow, but 3 years down the road this web based apparel company has been able to transform itself into a real power house. The project began as a project for art school while Nickell was still learning the ropes. He began it from his house in Chicago and now has more than 70 people employed beneath him. The brand has been built to such an extent that social web experts call it a truly iconic brand name when it comes to fashion of the more casual variety. Initially, the company started out as a hobby that was not seen as one day becoming a business, with Nickell merely wanting people to be able to visit his site, hang out and find the most awesome shirts possible. He did not so much view the site as a retail shop for tee shirts, but rather a place where visitors would be able to create art.

Art historians say that Nickell is pioneering a new wave of art happenings that were popular in bygone decades and used to take place in spaces such as warehouses, artist studios and obscure locations in industrial districts of large metro areas. For Nickell, it all happens right online.

A family run department store called Von Maur Inc. is set to set foot into the fast fashion market, taking another step from its 138 year old roots as a white glove service merchant. The store is based in the United States, out of Iowa, and had been looking for ways to expand its brand. The new concept store will cater to young females and is set to be called Dry Goods. The first Dry Goods store will open in the city of Aurora at the Fox Valley Mall in autumn of 2010. The initial space will be over 4,000 square feet and is set to carry a large inventory of trendy accessories and apparel that will be constantly updated as tastes continue to fluctuate in the market for young women’s fashion. In terms of decor, Von Maur is going back to its roots and giving the first store a look that recalls the early 19th Century with vintage designs that are very close to its original dry goods store in Davenport, Iowa shortly after it was founded. For Von Maur, the new Dry Goods brand is intended to be a way for it to expand its market and the company expects to unroll several more new stores for 2011 across the US Midwest region in shopping malls that do not yet have a Von Maur store in them.

If things go according to the Von Maur plan, Dry Goods will go nation wide and stores will be set up across the US. Competition will include H&M, Forever 21 and Zara.

Pop singer and uber star Madonna has been well known for a long history of provocative music, stage shows and fashion, but a new wave of criticism is washing over her now thanks to a fashion collection that she has released with her 13 year old daughter Lourdes. The critics are up in arms over the fact that they feel the fashion line, aimed at young teen girls, is far too provocative for the age it is intended for and has a tendency to create a ‘too adult’ look for girls of that age. Material Girl, the collection under fire, was named after a hit song from the 80’s and an era of Madonna’s music, intended to help fashion fans connect with the general idea of the collection which the pop queen and her daughter have told the press is intended to stress individuality. Many of the vocal critics have said that they feel Madonna is simply trying to relive her more wild days by way of her daughter and have strongly condemned the line. Images of Taylor Momsen, from the TV show Gossip Girl, where she is shown with bleach blond hair and heavy make up being held back by chains have been targeted, as well as other images in which the 17 year old wears dark nail polish, biker boots, fish net stockings and a very low cut dress.

Of course, with Madonna controversy is part of her art form and most close to her have said that they doubt she is even batting an eye at her critics.

Jeans have been a staple in fashion for so long that they have now achieved the level of a true classic, but as all women know, not all brands are created equal. The department store brands are hardly the pinnacle of fashion, but there are brands emerging now that do a much better job at giving a pair of jeans that have a truly unique look and among these is G-Star. The brand definitely offers a better and more savvy appearance compared with much of its competition, putting up a range of styles that any woman can not only feel comfortable wearing, but know she looks great in. These machine washable jeans are definitely going to be easy to deal with – something that is not always common when it comes to actual fashion jeans that may need extra care which means extra work on the part of their owners. With G-Star, the jeans are well made and, of course, feature a high cotton content that makes them fit snugly with plenty of breathing room.

For those who are looking for rock star quality at affordable prices, G-Star is certainly a label to choose since they have great choices like their Ocean Fit Track Wash denim jeans that feature a handy zip coin pocket that is bound to be useful. When it comes to jeans, we all want utility to go with the fashion statement and this is a large part of what is helping the G-Star label to succeed where others often do not. With such a range of styles from Vintage Aged to Urban Heritage, it is easy to find the perfect look that can match with so many different tops and shoes, another key point that makes G-Star a solid brand. Right now, Box-Clothing has some of the best prices and selection of women’s G-Star jeans that one will find anywhere on the web so they are certainly the number one place to pick up a pair these days.

Things are not looking up in the United States when it comes to the typically rich Back to School season that the national fashion industry tends to profit from in great amounts. Instead, this year there is going to be a lot of competition from many other angles, say retail experts, as parents and kids alike struggle to determine how many of the latest gadgets they should get. This will cut directly into the fashion budget that is typically sizable for this time of year among school age children and teens. Retailers that focus on clothing are struggling to find ways to get kids and parents to opt for new outfits and accessories instead of iPhones, iPads and every other digital gadget under the sun. Many parents are also dealing with tough economic times and reduced hours at work, so this too will cut into the budgets say family market experts. Retailers are turning to jeans at half price and a variety of free promotional items in their efforts to get families into the malls to try and be a little less frugal with their discretionary spending.

Back to school fashions are a staple for big name labels like Abercrombie & Fitch so they are trying to pull in more customers with 40 percent off jeans, but some companies are even offering free mobile phones as a technique to pull in buyers. Only time will tell how the season fares, but expectations are already set low for most clothing makers and retailers who offer fast fashion, all across the national market.
